Dr. David Bekelman is a palliative care physician. He conducts research to improve the quality of life for people with chronic heart failure and chronic lung disease and their families. His research expertise is in measuring and improving quality of life and testing novel health care delivery interventions using clinical trials. He has tested telephone, team (nurse and social worker), and peer (layperson) interventions to integrate early palliative care and psychosocial care into the outpatient setting.
